Looking Unto Jesus: The Lamb of God

Speaker:
Passage: John 1:29-34

Bible Text: John 1:29-34 | Speaker: Michael Kenley | When John the Baptist sees Jesus approaching he announces to all who will hear, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” This perfect sacrifice for sin had been prefigured and prophesied about through the Old Testament sacrificial system, where innocent lambs without blemish were offered year after year to cover the sins of the people. When Jesus died, He put away our sins for ever and bought us with His blood. Jump ahead in the scriptures to Revelation 5:5-6 and again we see the Lamb of God in heaven, looking “as if it had been slain,” but now not only a sacrifice for sin, but the conquering Lion who has prevailed. He is worthy to establish a kingdom of righteousness and we are lead “in the train of His triumph”!

Other key passages are Rev 5:5-14, Isaiah 52:13-53:12, Exodus 12:1-36, and 1 Peter 1:18-21
