Family Life Fellowship - Equipping married couples for Christian livingPurpose: The purpose of the Family Life Fellowship is to glorify GOD through obedience to his word resulting in Holy Living, Discipleship & Evangelism by equipping Couples to live out Christ in their daily lives. Target: Primary outreach is married couples and newlyweds in the family life period of their lives, those couples in the child rearing age between 20 and 45. This is a target only as we would not enforce any limits but would encourage those outside of this target to utilize other ministries that may be available to them.
Structure: Sunday morning Discovery time (Teaching & Training) Most bible believing evangelical churches have recognized the need and benefit of providing ministry opportunities for most social groups. We often find children’s ministry, youth ministry, senior citizens groups, men’s ministry and women’s groups, but married couples are often forgotten and lost in the business of church service. From the newlywed to those in the midst of raising young families, they are often left on their own or are busy ministering to others. Too often they have little resources to undergird them in their daily struggles of being a supportive spouse or a good parent to their children. They struggle with the daily issues of Christian living is a very secular society. Family Life Ministry is designed to help meet these needs though Christ center instruction in righteousness. Discovery time will be on Sunday mornings from 9:15 am until 10:15 am. The structure will include a “praise and worship” time with songs, hymns and choruses using sound tracks to enhance worship and to prepare the heart for the receiving of God’s word. A short time of prayer will follow the song time and sharing of praise and prayer request will be encouraged. A prepared bible lesson will then be delivered with an emphasis on practical application to our daily Christian living designed to target the needs of the class demographics. Fellowship opportunities will be planned to afford class members the opportunity to enjoy fellowship with one another, to build Christian friendships for edification and to provide an outreach to those of like faith as well as the unsaved to evangelism. These events will be scheduled and may include Class Picnics, Christmas Party, and Hymn Sings around a bond fire, Day Trips, Dinner Out, Day at the Beach, and Game Night at the Chapel as a short list of options. Class members will be encouraged to invite others to participate. Some events may be for the family while others may be for the Married Couple to enjoy a “Night Out” for themselves. These activities will be sprinkled throughout the year, as the class would so desire. Retreat(s) would be utilized as an added opportunity for Fellowship and growth and the possibility of attending an established Couples Retreat such as Bob Scheihing’s fall retreat at Black Rock would be an option as well as organizing and establishing our own retreat should GOD lead. Prayer & Share meetings would be scheduled at a frequency of once monthly for specific intercession on behalf of this ministry and the needs of this class. These times would be held at someone’s home on a weeknight with child care provided. |
